C Class Avantgarde Manual Query ?

Hi guys i have a 3 year old c class avantgarde its my first Merc so sorry if i sound abit of a novice

i have a manual - i know !! but i just prefer manuals, anyway... i was wondering how do i activate the cruise control... i know the lever on the left of the wheel is one to use and i can set the speed eg to 30mph so that it does not exceed this limit in a 30 zone but how do i do the reverse say on the motorway i want the speed to stay at 70mph...

can i do this on a manual gear box if so how ??

Also while im on here i have climate control in teh car and in this very hot humid weather my system will not blast out cold air like with air con... is this normal or do i need my sysytem re-gased ...if so how much do they normally charge..

Hi,
If you press the end of the lever, the 'Limit' light will go out. You can then set the cruise to the required speed by lifting the lever up when you get to the requried speed.
To switch cruise off, press the lever away from you (or press the brake pedal, or change gear).
To resume cruise at anything over 25mph pull the lever back towards you and it will accelerate back up to the pre-set speed. Maybe not that smooth in a manual
To increase the set speed slightly lift the lever up.
To decrease the set speed slightly press the lever down.

As for the climate, I'm guessing it is out of gas. Check that the compressor runs when switching the AC on and off (EC switch) if the compressor doesn't run you are out of gas. Find an independant AC specialist and have the system pressure tested and re-gassed.
