Hi all, I have a 96 C180 fitted with a Kenwood cassette receiver KRC-357L.
In the boot is a 10 disc Kenwood CD changer KDC-C504.
The CD changer has several problems and I need to replace it. Does anyone know of a unit that is a currently available as a direct replacement that will allow me to continue using the KRC-357L receiver and it's wiring to the boot.

HI.

I believe pretty much all the current entire kenwood cd changers should fit, Is it the 8pin din plug? (largish round one)..

Personally I would acquire a nice Alpine changer / head unit, buy it off the web and almost the cost of a retail kenwood cd changer..

The kenwood is not a standard Merc fit. They fitted Sony's around that time, but it was up to the dealer. Its often cheaper to replace the head unit and changer as a set for some daft reason, than to buy a specific changer. Pop down to your local car audio shop.

Thanks for your feedback.I have seen some Kenwood changers on the net that state they are not compatible with older units. My connector to the changer in the boot has 13 pins.

best thing is to get a head unit and changer package- it works out at pretty much the same price as buying a changer seperately. And you know that it is going to work properly when they are meant to go together.

Blaupunkt units have that same 13pin socket. Don't know if they're compatable with Kenwood head unit though. Can be bought on Ebay for about 50 quid.
