Has anyone with the new C-Class or CLC got problems with condensation inside the headlights?

I know the weather has been extreme this week but I'm slightly concerned about my CLC.

They will dry out, running with the headlamps on will help, no real fix on this

I thought as much but my last C-Class never has this and I thought it maybe so new. Maybe it is condensation from the heat of being built in Mexico then coming to freezing Scotland ;)

Personally I would return to dealer, warranty issue. let them dry /change etc.

Dealer already has delivered the line "They all do that" and "That'll happen".

I didn't think they should but my old C-Class Sport Coupe never suffered from this, I can only think there might be a design problem with the new design of lights.

have you tried another dealer? Afterall the silvering on the reflector will be damaged in time.

The condensation seems to be reducing as the week has gone on. I'll check again next week and get back onto them if it worsens.

The dealer has certainly gone down-hill in my expectations. How much do you need to spend nowadays to get the level of service expected for a high-end brand.

We are one of the only countries with a humidity as high as ours, When the weather changes to normal it will all go away, or I will eat my hat

Condensation seems to be drastically reduced now after a few days.

Could be faulty seals? My SLK has condensation in the headlights but the spare SLK (which is older,) never has condensation?

Thinking about the principles of the dynamics involved, when the lights are on they generate high temperatures, which in turn heats the air that then expands (and dries) but when the lights are off the air cools and contracts.

When the air contracts, and if the seals aren't perfect, this must allow moisture to be drawn into the lamp housing, which then condenses on the cold glass?

Would anyone agree with this hypothesis? or should we have a snowball fight? - hmmm:rolleyes:

Thinking about the principles of the dynamics involved, when the lights are on they generate high temperatures, which in turn heats the air that then expands only if there is a seal leak, otherwise the pressure increases (and dries only if the moisture can escape) but when the lights are off the air cools and contracts.

When the air contracts, and if the seals aren't perfect, this must allow moisture to be drawn into the lamp housing, which then condenses on the cold glass? Only if the outside air has a higher moisture content

Fight!! :D

Even if the seals are perfect when the temp increases the moisture will appear to vanish but as soon as the temp lowers it will re-appear. The light must be vented to "push" out the moist air, which will then be replaced with ambient moisture laden air, which shouldn't condense on the inside of the lens.

6-8" at home here. Just drove back from Cambridge (110mls) and it is very patchy, some areas quite clear others very slippery. Biggest problem was getting back on my driveway!
