I noticed that the boot lock on my 2003 180K Coupe was a little stiff. Tonight I was opening it and closing it several times in an atempt to excerise the lock. It then refused to catch at all and, althoug down it still refuses to lock. I locked the car and left it a few minutes(until lights went out and alarm LEDs on dash illuminated) theni lifted the tailgate without using the handle and it lifted no probelm - more to the point the alarm did not sound. Promptly removed golf clubs!!!! ny ideas. I have put some WD40 into the locking mechanism - still no joy. Any ideas please.

Got it sorted...Took lock of and removed plastic casing(3 screws), Found a plastic lever which is motorised - motor/synchro was stuck. excerised this and on reconnecting the electrics the alarm sounded. This obviously indicated a connection to the power again. I suspect there is a miro switch behind plastic lever -although this requires a further strip to get to and I think it is permanently sealed. Anyway, I fitted all together again and systems functions as advertised.

Cheers for offer of assistance Television.

Shaun, Teflon and Silicon sprays work very well in keep out moisture, and is ok on electrics, its used for router cutters, Screwfix sell it, it will not harm the car in any way, but I am pleased that you sorted it
