c class diesel fuel filter

i have a 2005 220 cdi i want to change the fuel filter i bought one from mercedes for £20 in p&p
i was quoted £76 to replace this at my b service
can anyone tell me how to change it please

Hello,
Take off engine cover, torx screws, you will see it in the middle of the inlet manifold area. unclip the hoses, this reqiures a speical tool if you wont to re-use them, or replace with small jublee clips. then the filter is held in place by a allen key bolt through the clamp around it. easy job to do

thank you very much i thought that was it but was unsure about those clips now i know its safe to replace them there's a job for the weekend

Fill the filter with diesel before you fit it otherwise you will be cranking forever if you don't have a electric fuel pump. (some don't)

Also the fuel hose in the middle of the filter can be very tough to remove, the plastic goes brittle and can and probably will break, so make sure you either have one to hand or can go and get one if required.
