Hi,

I've got a W202 C Class Estate with drainage problems for the second time. First time the rain water sump at the back of the engine bay and under the windscreen overflowed into the heater fan.The simple near-side non-return valve on the sump drain was blocked and a poke with a bit of wire solved the problem.

This time I noticed that after washing the car water continued to drip out of the near-side sill under the font wheel arch for around 30 mins while the other side dried up within a minute or so. A quick experiment with a watering can confirmed it was not a repeat of the first problem. The sump was draining fine. The problem seem to be within the box section behind the wheel arch. The water drains into this void from the sump and comes out at the end of the sill. I suspect this void is full of debris such as leaves. Any idea how I can get in there ?

not quite the same, but my wife's renault suffered a similar problem. I was loathe to get the Karcher out in case I soaked something electrical or I was away something resembling corrosion protection (thank god for plastic wings).

In the end I got the hose pipe and used mains pressure and basically waggled it all arouond and near the entire wate runways. After about ten miunutes when the run ways were overflowing with water, I hit the right spot loads of twigs and leaves and a wasp came out and problem solved. I now do this as a matter of course during the weekly wash and do the same on my E class (main runway under middle of screen and the router under bonnet that is fed from vents in bonnet.)

Yes. Think I'm going to try a variation of what you suggest. Ie hose pipe and a length of stiffish plastic wire to give the obstruction a non-destructive poke
