C Class estate luggage cover wont retract

I would be grateful for any advice,
someone borrowed my C class today and upon returning it they have over extended the luggage cover (i think) to a point where it sags and wont retract making it pretty useless. I am not that practical have had a look but really dont know if it can be sorted and if it is broken beyond repair??

try extending fully, somtimes the fabric folds slightly at edges and makes it too bulky to all fit in

The springs can break at the ends very hard to fix. you can try gently pulling to max and see if it will go back back in.
there has been a recent posting on this, I think the guy bought one on Ebay in the end

Bad news, I know the springs break and I am not aware of any fix. My cover is rivetted so it would not be an easy job. you may need to look at breakers yard or try Mercedes Enthusiast.
