I had that same sound from the drivers side front, I deglazed the pads, cleaned and checked calipers and put back together with some coppaslip, and that cured it.
Did you use coppaslip? or put back together dry?

Spring

... is it a broken spring causing the front end to 'drop' I have seen a number of posts on here reporting such, just thought.

I am pretty sure someone on these forums had bushes (anti roll bar i think) that did what you described, I will see if i can find it.

Had this with my C240, trouble is you cannot jack the front of the car up to check as the suspension and wheel fall away. My problem turned out to be the RH tyre scraping on the plastic inner wheel arch cover which had slightly come away. With the car on the ground, turn the wheels to the right and check if the RH tyre is touching anywhere on the arch cover and also check the metal splash guard on the back of the discs. Just a thought
Colin.

thanks will check them out, just really anoying as its like a metal scraping noise and when i jack car up no noise as it sounds like something rubbing on the metal dust sheild behind the caliper but no sign of anything, and should the front pads have a groove at the front edge of them?

i could only get 2 parts of it out and they looked ok,think i put them in the same as i took them out,so as they were kind of flush, and tightened the nut until i felt resistance then turn it back quarter of a turn whilst turning the disc, would i be able to check the other parts of the bearing as i didnt get them out
