C-Class Radio Connections

I have a 01 C-Class and I want to install a Nokia car kit with a mute facility. Can anyone tell me if the standard C-Class CD/Radio has a mute connection and how to find it? Also do I need special tools to take out the radio unit?

Yes it does have a mute. Mine is an Audio10 and this does. Exactly which wire it is I am unsure, though from memory, the standard colour coding is yellow (though I have a nagging memory that this used to be the colour for the lighting circuit ?- someone please put me straight). I would expect to find a terminated wire in any case. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you exactly and possibly supply a pic, but what I would do is pull the radio, find the likely connection, put the lights igntion and radio on, check for a live. If there isn't one, put an earth to it (this is what the car kit does). The radio and dash display should switch to "Phone" the cd pause and the sound mute.
I believe you can get the keys to remove the set from the dealer or any decent car radio shop.

telephone mute

Hi chris i beleive the telephone mute is a yellow and black wire which should be in pin no 3 of plug a..

This is for new A class, but connections are same for mute.
