Just bought a C220CDI estate and i noticed the steering is off centre a little.

I took it back to Mercedes Direct and they tinkered with it and now it pulls to the near side when i take my hands off the wheel.

Is this normal for a C Class?

All the other cars i have driven have dead centre steering.

Also the steering doesn't self centre like other cars when you let go of the wheel.

What year is it?

All secondhand cars are possible candidates for tracking and balancing on the best modern kit. People hit pavements and things go out of line. It makes a huge difference. I had a 2002 C class and that had litlle castor return till I had it all reset at a Merc dealer.

In addition, What Car say thousands of cars have not been taken back to dealers enough to have all the updates, recalls and service campaigns done on them. These are free but people need to be serviced at a main dealer to get them all done. One of the updates on the C class was the front anti-roll bar bushes and other front end mods. Worth checking.

Have you got full MB service history? Are you still under manufacturers 3 year guarantee. If so I'd go to a dealer and get it all checked over under guarantee.

Hi Hawk

Its a Nov 2006 so less than 12 months old.

It was serviced before i bought it so the MB dealer should have sorted it. Guess i will have to take it back.

Thanks for your advice.

Yes, I have to agree with Hawk, a job not well done.
