c126 Seat Motor - can it be overridden?

I am a new owner of a c126 - broke all the rules and bought one without history etc...


The drivers seat move forward and back, up and down, BUT the backrest motor is not working - is it possible to manually adjust it to be more vertical until I get time to strip it to fix?

The only way that you can do this is to remove the wires that go to the backrest motor and join them up to a 12volt source, there are two screws along the front edge of the squab, remove them and it lifts off. Do disconnect the wires first.

Found the reason...

Thanks for the advise, once I have taken off the cover, I found the reason why the backrest wasn't moving - NO MOTOR present!

So, just a simple manual adjustment to make it a bit more upright and sorted till I get a motor!
