C180 1996 Dash Problem

Can Anyone Tell Me How To Remove The Clocks From The Dash Board As I Think I Have A Loose Conection Behind AS MY SPEED AND PETROL GAUGE DONT WORK BUT WHEN I BANG THE DASH THEY START WORKING And I Need To Replace The Bulbs. Thanks Tommy

IF YOU REMOVE THE LOWER TRIM PIECES BELOW THE STEERING WHEEL YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REACH UP AND PUSH THE DASH POD OUT FROM BEHIND,IF NOT YOU WILL NEED TO USE SPECIAL MERC TOOL TO DO THE JOB(OR USE HOMEMADE VERSION-THEY ARE TWO PIECES UF STRONG WIRE WITH HOOKS ON THE END)..their are some threads on this forum explaining this better...p.s early 202's do suffer from dash gremlins!

The reason the gauges stick is that the paint on the stop pins and needles becomes tacky, when you have the cluster out split the casing and clean the pins and needles with a solvent or just slip a piece of insulation from a small gauge electric wire over the pins.

make sure you do NOT power the vehicle on when the instrument panel is disconnected or you'll have to go to the dealer to get the srs reset.
