c180 1996 will not start!

I have a 96 C180 Elegance ( Auto). When i try to start the engine the red and green lights flash, hazards flash, alarm sounds.
Car will lock on remote and open and thats about it!
HELP! please.

The flashing lights indicate the immobiliser has not been deactivated (yes, even though the doors unlock). Have you got a spare key? If not, try the following:

Point the key at the interior mirror and press the button twice (not too quickly).

switch the ignition to position 2 (lights should flash) for 10 seconds.

Key should now deactivate the immobiliser.
