Hi all,
when in park if i rev my engine up to 4000+ one of the cylinders seems to be misfiring!! would anybody know this this could be? Firends have suggested the "starter coil" not working, but im not thast technically minded regarding cars so any help will be much appreciated. Has anyone had a similar problem?

car = c180- classic s plate, automatic.

Your Mercedes
c238,w120 (diesel)
that is NORMAL

so safe to ignore, when in park or in neutral (ie not driving) you cannot rev the engine above 4000rpm to avoid engine damage or something similar,

if the car revs fine when driving this confirms that what you are seeing is normal,

there's an inhibitor built in that senses you are not driving (or in gear) and it limits the revs to that magical figure, same thing happens on my c220

cheers
