My C180 Avantgarde, 2002 model, will not open at all with my remote key. I managed to open it with the manual key.
I assumed battery is completely flat, so I tried to jump start it - but the ignition will not turn at all either!!

I have owned this vehicle from new and completed all schedules services by Main Mercedes Dealer until 2006 when I experienced exceptionally poor service - afterwhich I have used a reputable ans reliable Mercedes Specialist (service book fully stamped).

I contacted Mobilo, and they said that the Mobilo cover is no longer valid as I have ceased servicing my vehicle at Mercedes Dealer??

Grateful for any assistance with possible sloution to this problem and with terms of the Mobilo cover.
Thanks in advance
Prakash

Hello and welcome to the MB forum,,If the battery is flat and probably past is sell by date if original the locking or Ignition will not work.

Do read this as it can become expensive if you do it wrong

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=37364

Yes if the cars last service was not done at MB, then moblo will void until the next MB service.

Thanks for prompt replies

The battery was replaced in late 2005 by Mercedes after a known fault affecting many vehicles registered in 2002.

What I do not understand is why the ignition will not turn either - I have also just read that the Immobiliser might be locked because of the flat battery - can this happen? If so can it be unlocked?

What is a faulty EIS?

Thanks again
Prakash

The EIS is electronic ignition switch, this may work if the headlamps are working good and bright that shows that the battery is charged. then not with the lights on, just leave the key in the ignition switch for up to 90 mins.

Have you tried the spare key

Same problem with the spare key. Anyway, today I installed a new battery - and it started up first time...however the think that I have another problem now...

The Hazard light and the Airbag Off light in the centre console both remain permanently ON, after I turn off the car??

The Hazard light appears to remain 'pressed in' and does not 'bounce' back out when I try to turn it off - it just glows red.

I think that this may be the real reason why my battery may have been completely drained in the first place...and may become drained again??

Grateful if anyone has seen this problem and advise on any possible solutions (fuses..etc)Many thanks.
