My 00 C180 died as I drove into the car park in work yesterday morning :-( (at least it got me there).

Engine is turning over / battery ok / half tank of fuel but no start, put up about 6K on the car since buying it used 5 months ago with zero problems. Any views on most likely causes?

Luckily it was still under a Garage used-warranty and they have towed it and are investigating, just curious on how bad it could be.

Cheers

If it turns over, its probably not too serious. It's when it doesn't you have to worry - something mechanical.
Could be anything, but I'd go for electrical component. Won't be a sensor as it would have gone into get you home mode, so probably relay/fuse, alarm, switch etc. Doubtless they'll just plug in an appropriate replacement box and you'll be on your way.

2005 C270CDi Avantgarde Estate. Bought 2005, sold 2022.
I had a brand new C220 CDi demo for a few days last month. It just wouldn't start one morning, so I got out, locked it again and then unlocked it.
It then started straight off.
The reason I thought to try this is because the Peugeot 406 that I currently drive has done the same thing a couple of times, including once where the engine just cut out while I was waiting in a car park.

A-OK again

Thaks for the replies guys.

It was the fuel pump, running fine again.

Mind you proves buying from a main dealer garage (Rover/Subaru) can have its benefits, Tow-Truck, replacement car for a day, fuel pump and labour, zero cost to me after 5 months ownership. Well the replacement C3 was on empty so ?10 for petrol, but not going to complain about that :).

In case anyone is interested C180 has ~74K mls up, as possible indication of fuel pump life, though probably I was just unlucky.
