C180 Electric Problem?

My C180 loses its revs when I press the accelerator. When I start the engine it starts first turn, but after a few moments the revs die down and the engine appears to be firing on 2 or 3 cylinders. When I press the accelerator very little happens, the revs die down, when I release the accelerator they pick up briefly. What can I do?

what year is the car & is it the same when hot or cold

It is 1998 it just doesnt seem to warm up, sometimes if you switch off the engine and turn it back on it runs ok for a few moments!

Take a look and see if you have a MAF sensor as in the bttom picture in the link 86

If you have unplug the electrical connector and try the car

I unplugged the only thing I could see plugged into the filter assembly. It was located on top of the casing that goes to the carb. When I started the car with it unplugged it started but stalled after a few seconds.
