Hi
Only joined the forum today so I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to asking questions but here goes.........
I've got a Y reg C180 and just lately the hazard lights have been staying on after I lock the car. It doesn't happen everytime - just occasionally but is really annoying and I daren't leave it incase it flattens the battery. Several times I have had to leave the car unlocked because I haven't been able to stop it. When I lock the car using the key fob the hazards flash 3 times and then, if things are working properly, they stop, but more often than not just lately, they flash 3 times and then start to flash really quickly and carry on until I unlock the car. If I re-lock the car they will sometimes just flash 3 times and then stay off but then 30 seconds or so later they start flashing quickly again. I've tried turning off the internal sensor, I've checked all the doors, sun roof, boot and bonnet etc. to make sure they are secure but they all seem ok. A couple of times the siren has gone off as well but thankfully it has only happened twice. At the moment I am locking the car with my key fob that just opens the drivers door. First I lock it so all doors are locked, then I unlock it so that just the drivers door, petrol cap and boot are open and then I manually lock the drivers door using the emergency key. That way, providing no one checks the boot, the car looks, and is, relatively secure.
Has anyone out there got any ideas as to what might be the problem? There are no faults showing on the dash console to give me a clue. I've looked on the forum and there are one or two problems listed similar to mine but nothing quite the same. Would be grateful for anyone's help. - Thanks, Sue.

Hello and welcome Sue,, is the car a 202 or 203 please,,in any case I think the fault could be a faulty siren on the alarm

Cant find the siren

Hi,

I have the same exact problem but on a c200 sportscoupe (w203) and have searched for the well hidden alarm siren but cant find it :)

I have been looking behind both front wheels covers in front of the wheel and behind but cant find it. On the left steering side i only find the windshield fluid container and on the right passenger side I only see the back of the fog lights etc.

Is it placed in front of the wheel or behind the wheel near the door?
What does the siren look like? is it a square plastic box or like a tube?

Regards Anders

I believe it is mounted off side on a RHD drive car but I am not 100% sure

Do you have to take the wheel off and then remove the wheel arch liner to get at it? Have had a quick look under the bonnet and everything is very tightly packed. Think it might be located underneath the battery?
