c180 hic up

Hi all,
I own a c180 1994 (but the slks on it's way after christmas) It starts and runs fine but if i stop when hot when i start again it goes fine for a few yards and then die's. To keep going i have to press the throttle to the floor and it picks up and goes perfectly. Has anyone ever come accross this before, i would be greatful for any help.

Hi, it could be the MAF filter, this is the most usual thing, I was thinking about fuel, but since it does pick up and drive OK one can rule that out, so its back to the MAF at the end of your air filter box, if you can unplug it, give it a go and see how the car performs.

No MAF sensor on your car,it wasn't fitted to the C180 until 1996. Have a look at your throttle /idle control valve, it may be gummed up and need cleaning ,also check that non of the return springs have broken.
