Hi all just after some advise got a fault with a Mercedes C180 W203 model.

Put the key in the ignition, key recognised

Switch ignition on, everything works as normal dash lights up all ignition on items work; dash, wipers, indicators, heater etc. etc.

Turn the key to crank, engine starts and runs but nothing inside the vehicle works, just like the ignition is switched off. No dash, wipers, indicators, heater etc.

I know it's my first post on the forum, I've always worked on and owned VAG cars, just trying to help a friend out.

Would greatly appreciate any advise.

What does the key look like outside? Is the case cracked or worn?

Circuit 50 is not being activated because of a break in IR signal more than likely.

If you have more than 1 key then try the other...

They key has seen better days. It's a bit cracked around the buttons. Only the one key unfortunately.

Had it on my scanner today, Front sam had:

B1032 Input signal, circuit 15R

B1025 Signal circuit 15

Engine ecu had:

202C CAN massage interuption, recieved from instrument cluster

202B CAN message interruption, recieved from EIS

Then the Sam is not getting circuit 15/ 15r. This comes from the eis so I would suspect key or possibly eis

I have had a similar fault where the same thing you are describing would happen, but intermittently whilst driving. That turned out to be the key

first off, I know this is an old thread but I have been having trouble finding someone with this exact issue.

I have this problem with a 2004 c230. Car starts and runs but throws the b1032 and b1025 codes in front SAM.
Both key fobs start the car, lock and unlock the doors but the problem is there with both keys.

What is the likelyhood that both keys are bad at once?

Also, pressing the lock/unlock button of the key while it's in the ignition and car is running will make everything work normally again.
It will be fine until you lock the car. Once you unlock and start the car and the issue returns.

I would say that you have a fault with the front SAM or a CAN network fault somewhere. Unlikely both keys are duff. You can't guess at this, I would find an indie with STAR diagnosis to help.

The issue was a bad key. When both keys were on the same keyring, neither worked correctly. Trying one key at a time while the other was not inside the car at all revealed the bad key.

That's unusual. Glad it got sorted.
