Well the C180 goes into my local independant tomorrow for its oil leak to be fixed.

They suspect it is coming from the timing chain cover and quoted £130 to fix. Im hoping they are right and that its not coming from the head as is the case with most c class it seems.

Had a quick look in the haynes manual at this and am wondering how they can do it for that price.

I know haynes usually tells you to remove things you sometimes dont have to but even so.

To get timing chain cover off haynes says - remove viscous fan, drain rad, remove thermostat - remove sump, remove PAS pump etc etc

If this is what they are going to do how can they do all that for £130 all in.

I will ask them to tighten head bolts as weel while they are at it.

Given what they might be doing, even though its not due, do you think it would be worth getting them to service it at the same time ????

it's not a lot more work

to pull the plugs and do the oil and filters as well. See what they want for the job. I should imagine anything up to another £ 30 plus parts would be reasonable.( I am a notorious tightwad btw)

thats what i was thinking - given oil will be out anyway if sump is coming off - coolant should be out if stat is off etc etc

Might as well

Did you ever get your oil leak fixed?

I also seem to have developed a slow oil leak on my w202. Somewhere under the engine on the passenger side.
