...it probably also makes a *clung* noise as well.

A little tip for you: try putting your foot on the parking brake pedal, and then pull the handle and hold it, the pedal will push against your foot and you can lift it until the parking brake is fully released.  Ta-Da!  No bruising, no surprises and no horrible clunking noise (which is very unbecoming of a luxury sports saloon ;) ).

The noise ranks right up there with the sound of someone pulling a handbrake on without pressing the button on the end.

If you hold the Release handle out when applying the brake , it does not make the ratchet noise ;-)

LOL.

Seriously Matt I hope your leg feels better soon.  The 'C' that bit back ;)

The W124's are the same, I'm guessing all modern Merc's now have the third/fourth pedal & pull out dash handle hand brake. Must be a nightmare driving a manual with that type of H-B.

C180 Parking brake

Thanks for the sympathy vote chaps!!

Ans Steve, its funny that you mentioned that about the brake being a nightmare in a manual, as there was an article on that very thing in Saturdays telegraph motoring section. (before you all laugh, my father in law saves it for me!!)
