Assuming I have access to all colours within the C coupe range (I haven't finally decided on which design line to go with), what colour should I go for? I think black but there's a lot of diffferent blacks - metallic or not? Silver or not?

Would appreciate views of experienced merc lovers, I haven't owned one before and can't afford a mistake

I'm beginning to feel like a stalker, checking out every car that passess by!!!

Thanks a lot:confused:

Basically, go for whatever colour you like.

BUT. If you're looking for maximum resale value when it's time to trade in, avoid solid red / white and light metallics (except silver natch) and anything with sand leather interior.

My favourite is Cubanite Silver :p
The attached pictures dont quite do the colour justice. More of a mix between silver and gold with a bias towards the silver - if you get my drift. Difficult to see unless you get two parked side by side against another that is "ordinary" silver.
IMHO Black doesnt suit the smaller C Class as much as the larger Mercs, and its a bugger to keep clean.
But of course its all very personal and only an opinion..........
This is mine..........

Simple.... Black (but as any owner of a black car will tell you, you have to love cleaning your car regularly)

If you don't like washing your car go for Silver (it looks clean even when it's dirty!)

Colours that hold resale value better than others are black, silver and blue (especially dark blue).

I also like the Cubanite Silver but when I talked to the dealer he said that that colour sold better in areas like Golders Green , wonder what he meant , I assume he just didnt have any stock in that colour . Also like the Carneol Red (544) this looks fab with Sand upholstery. Ended up with iridium silver,,, again phuff.
If you are near a big dealership drop in and browse their stock, you have to view the colour on the car. Near us at Brooklands we have Merky World and you can see all the colours on all the models , no one will harass you.

I also like cubanite silver. Avoid solid colours. Dark look great, clean, well polished and scratch free. After a year or two though, they show their age and as above, need constant cleaning and polishing to look good. I had a tektite grey E class. Looked incredible in the showroom and fantastic on a sunny day. Under a normal grey uk sky it looked crap.
I've got plain old silver now. Ok boring, predictable and common as muck - I had a few friends round recently - on the drive, 1 silver C, 3 silver E's and a CLK conv.. in silver! But - it always looks crisp, new and shiny - even when it's filthy and suffering the odd scratch - I guess that's why Silver is so popular.

Strangely I dont like Cubanite at all, think it is not the right colour for a Mercedes, especially the bigger S-Class and CL-CLass.

Jasper Blue looks good on the C-Class Sport Coupe if it has decent alloys on it.

Again black and silver are the safe bets, if also the most common

Just goes to show............

Maybe a "best" colour question is impossible to answer subjectively.

Its like going into a resturant and asking someone on the next table to order for you.

The iridium silver is very nice, its got an aluminium look to it, and always looks clean, or a decent grey.

I've got tansanite blue (the dark metallic) - wouldn't have been first choice - I'd have gone for one of the silvers, mainly because they look good and don't demand to be washed every 5 minutes . However I think mine looks great especially in bright sunlight & it's def much less work than black - the one to have if your butler is on hand to clean before & after every trip!:D

Hypothetical I know.......but if your butler cleans your car AFTER every trip, why does he need to do it again BEFORE every trip? Surely it would still be clean?
Please pardon my schoolboy humour !

decisions, decisons, decisions...............

When you buy the SE (cos you want a colour in that range) and add the AMG kit, do you miss out on any sporty effects because you have started off with the bottom of the range? Basically I want the evolution panorama only without the panorama roof and this is the only way I can see how to do it

verytalldave - c'mon - what's the point of having a butler if you can't give him a hard (& not necessarily logical ) hard time ? anyway if you've ever had a black car you'd know that that you can never wash it often enough ! I've had two and they both looked fabulous for about 5 minutes a week :p

Sixty per cent of cars coming out of Mercedes factories are some version of Black or some version of silver. Take your choice. Black looks fine when nearly new but hard to keep clean and fresh. The silvers look great and last well. Merc was always the traditional Mercedes 'colour' from Silver Arrows etc.

Dark blue looks great and excellent residuals.

The interesting new phenomenon is the return to fashion of white which Mercedes are using a lot in showrooms, brochures etc especially on the new C class which it seems to suit rather well. Saw one in my local dealer and thought wow! Really tasty.

White is also very big in the US right now.

Yes the Last 3 SLs that MB SW has had in stock have been black, so are most of the cars, plenty of finger prints all over them, silver does not leave finger prints, or at least, very hard to see
