Hi All ..... Have a mis-fire on a C200, have plugged in computer which has told me the code 060, which relates to coil / ecu / wiring ..... I have no spark on No's 1 & 4, (have used new leads to test for spark) have not changed the number 1 coil pack as yet, my question is on the bottom of the coil pack are 2 wires, should 1 be live on ignition or on cranking? I haven't checked for continuity yet from ecu to coil pack.

Hi,
Can you not just swap the coil packs around to check it works?
The C class to be honest, did,nt suffer to badly as far as the wiring loom issue, I would be suspecting coil pack/ECU IMO.

The 240 can get through coil packs,, a friend of mine carries a spare at all times, as Andy swap it over not bending the wires more than necessary

Thanks for the replies, I noticed the ECU looks fairly new so I presume someone already had that idea too, I guess I should cross reference the vin number and make sure the correct one is fitted shouldn't I ..... though I would have expected other diagnostic errors .......

As you've suggested changing the coils over will give an idea of whats what .....

Thanks for the comments and will post results tomorrow

Did all the tests this morning, swapping coil packs around checking wiring etc ..... the result points to ECU, and has luck has it my friend who has a breakers yard sold his last one yesterday for £150 :) just typical ...... When I removed the ecu there was only 2 bolts bolting it down instead of 4 and gave it a little shake and you could here something rattlling around inside ...... The way the ecu is put together I can't open it up and take alook around to see what it is .... no brownie points for me today ..... So if anyone has lying around in their shed Merc Part No 018 545 11 32 Bosch Part No. 0 261 200 614 and in a generous mood feel free to PM me.

Thanks All
