c200 auto abs and brs light on ?

help ,got a problem on my 98 c200 petrol auto the abs light and brs light have come on, and the car will not change up once on the move looked in the haynes manual but its no good .anyone have any ideas on whats wrong

This could be the brake light switch killing the speed signal, I will confirm this later this evening

Yes the stop lamp switch can do this on your car, there are 6 reasons, but this is the cheapest at £9 to try
