Hey guys and girls i'm Paul and i've just joined up, Been having a read through some posts and i must say awesome forum!

I'm about to change the front calliper's, pads, and disc's on a 97 c200 classic and wondered if anyone had any helpful tips or if you've run into any major problems whilst doin this.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Paul.

Hi mate, thats a pretty straight forward job all round, make sure the flexi hoses arent twisted when its all finished.

Why are you replacing the callipers out of interest?

It's my mate's car and according to his mechanic the o/s calliper is knackered.

The calliper is loose and rattling whilst the car is being driven.

Caliper loose???? check that "cheap" pads havent been fitted as sometimes they rattle in the carriers.

The caliper bolts will need to be replaced. I think the only reason for this is because the bolts are impregnated with a thread locking compound, but not being sure i replaced mine.

See i thought it might be the bolts as unless the calliper's broken then i'm not sure how it could rattle so much! it's more like a thudding as the car's moving then when you dive on the anchors it sops.

Brakes done and the problem's fixed!!

One small hickup though when the tyres were changed a few months back the mechanic gunned on the wheel studs and cross threaded them and so of course one of them snapped today!!! Oh joy!!

Cheers for the tips though guys.
