Hi all,

Apologies if this a frequently asked question. I have searched the forum before posting this. I have a Mercedes C200 CDI 2011 Diesel 2.2, It seems like it goes into limp mode once the engine is fully warmed up and lets say I stop at the traffic light, then go again the car seems to lose a bit of power aka limp mode (high revs etc). I check for any stored codes there is none, however there is a pending error code of P0471. This seems to be intermittent if I shut down the engine for about 10 minutes the limp mode seems to dissappear again until it happens again. I was wondering whether anyone can guide me in the right direction and just replacing the sensor should resolve this?

I did try taking it down the motorway not long ago for work and pushing it to try and clean it but that hasn't resolved it unfortunately.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge.

Thank you

Probably the exhaust back pressure sensor , easy to change and cheap enough.

P0471 relates to an exhaust back pressure sensor, probably better to take it a good Independent garage with STAR to have it diagnosed

Perfect, thanks for both your responses. I'll go and change the exhaust back pressure sensor and see how the car goes

Apologies for re-igniting this thread, but is anyone aware of what this issue is/any suggestions? Having the same exact issue on my W204 C250, mechanic replaced DPF sensor but still having the issue. Just want an idea of what is wrong, thanks in advance.

Exhaust back pressure sensor is a good start .

Also ask your mech if they reset codes and adapted new dpf sensor.

Changed exhaust back pressure sensor yesterday and all was fine for a ~1 hour drive but then this morning the car started in what feels like Limp Home mode (sticks in gears for longer, paddles don’t change but no EML) plugged in my simple OBD reader and having P0471 pending again. At this stage I’m assuming best to get it plugged into STAR.

Also, they confirmed they did reset codes and adapted new DPF sensor.

Yes , star will help. Ideally it's best when changing the dpf sensor ,to check both of those rubber tubes for blockages . Live values for dpf sensor are something like 0.04 psi etc. It don't take much for shut down to happen. It's possible your dpf just needs a good regen and a blow out.

Current waiting time for my local indie with Star access is 3 weeks so will let you know how I get on then, with hopefully good news :D. Thanks for the help.
