Wow , I drove a C2o0 New CDI Classic as a courtesy car instead of my C220 CDI Avamgarde diesal two years old with 65k... and figured someone might find the comparision useful.

C200 - 50 MPG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at 75 80mph !!!!! Mine delivers 42 if i am lucky, although I do have 16 inch brabus wheels instead of 15 inch standard.
C220 Classic - Extras missing from mine not noticed.
C200 Classic - horrible wheels.
C200 Classic Better smoother on the road
C200 Silent engine
C200 Seemed much sharper torque up to 70 ish
C200 Cloth , more comfortable than standard leather softer and more spongy
C200 Road noise harly any.

Why was this so much better than my car. Fair Play merceces this was a ****** surpising experience.

If it were me next time and under budjet i woudl buy a classic with cloth and change the wheels for something bigger and nicer, and save all that money, and for the 200 engine as appose to 220 I was amazed

Perhaps I should drive a new 220 now and see what thats like.

Hope this is of some use.

Hi,
I had a C180 CDI courtesy car recently. Conclusion - asthmatic, rough a dogs behind and according to the comp - not that economical (and I drive an E240 gas guzzler). I was disappointed as I was considering an c/e CDI (220/270) next. - So I wouldn't consider going lower than the 200 if I were you ! I think the wife's jeep had it beaten on refinement and she lovingly refers to it as her truck.

One big difference on many models is base ones have smaller diameter wheels, often steel, with higher aspect ratio tyres. Models up the range often have larger diameter alloys with wider and lower profile tyres. These will improve roadholding but reduce smoothness and increase road noise. A comparison on just these two points alone can be amazing, I have done it on other cars and the difference is much more than would be believed. I think the steel wheels are 15" and the alloys 16", enough to be noticeable. After that, newness of a car makes a big difference. Tighter engine, bushings etc in better condition, manufacturers upgrades etc.
