The Electric Seat ( Drivers ), "easy access feature" in my wife's C200 Coupe has failed on two occasions. Luckily the vehicle is under Warranty and has been Reset at Main Dealer, can anyone advise if this can be easily Reset without a visit to the Dealer. I have been advised by Mercedes that if the seat is moved too far forward or back, this feature locks out as a Safety Precaution.

Luckily my wife is to blame for this.

Any advise much appreciated.

The above statement is not true, the seat has limit switches. you can do nothing wrong with the uses settings to make them malfunction. What they are really saying is " we don't know whats causing it"

What precisely is the 'reset'?
Yes, easy entry function only works in a pre-defined range, so for example mine works fine for the Mrs, but I sit too far back already so if it retracted any further, a) the person sitting behind would be crushed and b) Id be sitting behind the B pillar and would struggle to get out.

In the same vein, if you sit too far forward, it won't work, on the basis that if it's programmed for the Mrs to hug the wheel and a fat bloke like me jumps in, I'd be crushed when I put the key in.

I found that the dealer, or at least the salesman, didn't understand this as he spent 20 mins trying to get it to work at the handover. He got it working and then it stopped again as soon as I got in. I am pretty sure he though it was defective and just avoided the issue but after a bit of fiddling once I got home, I figured it out myself.

As for a reset, there is the 'on-off' on the computer but that should be about it. I'd ask them to advise precisely what they did.

I think on a re set, MB join up to a diag reader and go to the seat settings, erase it and re install just incase the soft ware is corrupt.
