Can anyone tell me what is reasonable to expect for fuel consumption on a c200kompressor(2002) on the motorway. i am only getting 31 mpg which seems low, i'm not driving at excessive speeds and most of my commute is motorway.

i've also noticed flat spots in acceleration around 3000-4000 rpm, after 4000 the car picks up quite quickly. has anyone else experienced this or knows of a solution.

many thanks

It does seem low, I have a 2003 C200K, admittedly mine is the coupe which must be a little lighter, but I never get less than 34mpg on motorway trips - even with standard unleaded in clumpy traffic that continually speeds up and slows down. In light traffic, when I'm not in a hurry, I've seen over 40mpg on long trips.

Hi,
My gas guzzling E240 does better than that (most of the time). Flat spots may be indicative of a duff oxygen sensor, which in turn may make it run a little rich. (mine would hestitate picking up from 55-60) May be worth checking out as if it is running rich for long, it could kill the cat !

fuel consumption

I have had my C180 Classic (3 years old) for about three months now and ran a test which appears to indicate that with a combination of town and motorway driving I averaged 31 mpg. When completing a motorway drive it says I achieved 40mpg, which I find hard to believe, but if true amazing.

:D I have the same problem and I would think most of the other drivers have too, when I fill my tank my wallet seems to suffer from flat spots.
