My 2001 C200 would not start and could not be moved for 2 weeks as the AA failed to revive the battery initially, whilst the steering was locked and the gear stuck in Park. Therefore it could not be towed to the nearest Merc garage. Eventually I called out Mobilife under 30 year warranty and they had to release the steering lock and gear stick so that it could be towed.
The car was taken to a Mercedes garage which replaced the Ignition Switch, Steering Lock, the keys were re-progammed and the battery was changed. This cost £815. I understand this is a common problem with mercs, however no goodwill was shown.
Do i have any recourse? As you dont expect this sort of problem on a Merc that is just 5 years old. I would be grateful for any advice for who to approach.
