C200 Key Fob

Hi everybody
This is my first posting as I'm new to this club so fogive any mistakes I make and if this question has alrready been asked.
The remote key fob on my car is the single button type and its broken
I can get a new fob off ebay but I don't know anyone in the Herts area who can prgramme it (I.E. an auto electrician).
Obviously my local dealer could do it but the price seems a bit extortionate, so I`m wondering if anybody out there can put me in touch a sparky either mobile or static?

what year car is it? is the key one of the electronic ones? or a metal standard key?

The keys are NOT re-programmable. The ones off ebay are only good for the cases, or other spares. They CANNOT be re-used on different cars.

I'm afraid the only way is to pay Mr Mercedes for a brand spanky new shiny key...

Thanks everybody for all the advice. In the end I decided to smile and pay up for a new one. Still at least it keeps mercedes happy even if the wife's not!!

You can always post the old one to me, and I can see if I can fix it,, then you will have a spare

Sorry to jump in here,but would you be able to have a look at my defunct key as well,please? After Christmas would suit because of postal overload etc.Please PM with cost,and I will reply with CC No. or send a cheque with the key.

You should-because nobody would begrudge paying for a service.I realise it's a 50-50 thing, or even 80-20 against perhaps? (No reflection on your ability!).And finally,thank you ,Sir. I will certainly PM you in the New Year.
