My parents' 2004 Mercedes C200 Kompressor has a completely flat battery with no voltage whatsoever and it has been like that for a month or so whilst they have been away overseas. With the winter weather now really upon us, should I worry about trying to jump start the car to turn the engine over or can I just leave it in the drive until my parents return in the New Year?
I was planning to jump start the car using one of those portable battery starters/compressors you can buy in Halfords. However, I am worried that if I do jump start the car, then the car's electronics might go mad - for example, I'm worried the alarm might go off (I have the remote fob keys - so I assume I can turn it off) or the car might immobilse itself and refuse to be 'un-immobilised' (is there such a word?).
Am I worrying unduly? Can anyone advise me on what to expect? Strangely enough, having looked at the 500 page plus owners manual, there is no mention of what issues might arise should the battery go flat for an extended period.
Grateful for any help you might be able to offer!!!l
