C200 Petrol Sounds Like Diesel on Start-up

Can anyone help a new member.
My 04 C200 Petrol is sounding very sick on start-up. When I start my C200 from cold it sounds like a badly tuned diesel. Turn the Steering wheel fully left or right and it sounds worse. I can also get this effect by shifting from drive to neutral. Infact any action that puts the engine under pressure for the first 2 mins will show the problem. Apart from that it drives well and I have no warning lights showing. JaspersMerc

Several things here
The idler on the front and the damper can make an awful noise and clatter

possibly the alternator pulley, take a look at that to see if it wobbles

If there's no obvious fault on the auxiliary belt parts have a look at the engine mountings.
