Hi, This is my 1st post - Please can anybody help..

I have not long ago brought my 1st Mercedes, a 2001 C200 Komp which i absolutely love!
It was a local private sale and had been owned by the same guy since new which i also loved! not to mention a full service history! (all firsts for me having previously only owned old regular junk cars)

Ive now owned the car a couple of months and somethings just not right...

The engine management light came on only a few weeks into owning it, although this did not seem to trigger any safe mode and had no rev restrictions the car continued to drive as it usually does.
I took it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and he plugged in his hand held terminal and retrieved a couple of error codes which he could not find in his terminals manual, he agreed that it had not put the engine under any rev restrictions so cleared the code and said that it could just be a faulty or dirty sensor triggering the dashboard light (apparently quite common), sent me on my way and said to come back if i had any more probs.

The light has just come on again, some 3 weeks after being cleared, and again nothing has changed in the running of the car.

However, having now owned the car long enough to get a good feel for it, I feel the car just isnt running as sharp as it should be.
Sometimes it seems full of ommmffffff! and throws me back in my seat and other times i put my foot down and there is no immediate reaction???

OK, the car has done 125,000, but its been fully serviced like clockwork and always by Merc or an indy specialist.

I have now read through the cars history in good detail and have found a report from its latest service (aug 2008) with stored error codes:

they are:

P2036-001 Secondary air injection: malfuntion (function chain), Airflow is to low (P0410)

P203A-016 M16/7 (Recirculating air flap actuator) Comparative error Actual value potentiometer (P0244)

there are a few more, but these are the only ones under the heading 'Motor Electronics' the rest all seem unrelated (air con etc)

Any help would be much apprieciated!!! i have read through alot of the posts here and alot of them seem to point to the MAF, but all seem to mention the rev limiter kicking in which i dont seem to get??

I have checked my documentation my engine number does start with three 111's!!!

also one more thing is, it seems to be getting abit louder, im sure when i brought it, it ran very quietly and now is quite loud when idling? (outside the car not in)

Please help - What should be my next step?

Thanks - and sorry for the long post

Hello and welcome,, Your Fault would appear to be the camshaft seal gone allowing oil into the wiring harness and could require a new seal and loom.
