Hi all,

I stupidly left my lights (2 days) on and came back to find that the car doesn't start! I have very little knowledge about cars...

I tried jumpstarting the car but the key doesn't turn - When the battery is connected to the jumpleads the lights/radio etc work but the car won't start. Once the terminals are disconnected nothing works!

Do you think I need a new battery? I spent ages trying to look for something similiar on here but no luck. Also somebody mentioned that codes may need resetting? Is this correct?

I am also getting the following messages on the dash but have no idea what they mean:

1. ABS and ESP currently unaviable, see manual.
2. Restraint sys malfunction consult workshop.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

(PS I may have originally posted this in the wrong section - sorry!)

This is so hard, the battery is flat and we know that,,, but why did it go flat ??

Please when you try and jump, take the key out while you join up to the donor jump car or battery. with the donor jump connected try the central locking to see if that works from the key

One thought that struck me, is the battery you are trying to jump start from fully charged ? Ideally it should be in another car, with the its engine running. Are the connections good ?

Hey

thanks for the replies, the reason the battery died is because I left the parking lights on!

Then charge the battery with the key out, do try the central locking with the key fob, if that is OK then it should start. If necessary pop the key in the ignition, do not turn it, but press any button twice within 3 seconds of putting it in and you should be OK and away.

Television - thanks,

So just to clarify, put the key in and press one of the buttons on the fob?

Follow up with your previous problem

Hi sir, I also have the same problem with my car. The battery looks weak. It also shows these warnings:
1. ABS and ESP currently unaviable, see manual.
2. Restraint sys malfunction consult workshop.

How did you solve your problem last time sir?
