Hi Folks
Would welcome any suggestions
My C220 CDI only accelerates very slowly - about half what it should - it tops out at 80mph on the motorway and will not go any faster. When you hit a hill it slows right down and struggles. Starts OK and fuel consumption is OK. Have taken to MB and specialist - had Air Mass Unit replaced - no change. STAR machine not showing any faults.
Car has done 64k with full MB service history
Anyone got any suggestions?
Regards

Hi there,
Did it happen suddenly, or gradually? I've got a 220 diesel which wouldn't accelerate. Mine had a load of slack on the accelerator cable. I spannered it up and it's a different car. There's another thread you might want to look at as well....

Let me know how you get on. I might learn something from you as well.

Poor acceleration

My C220 [petrol] started to lose power on hills [M62] one day. It wouldn't do more than 55mph. Over the course of three days, travelling the same route, it was down to 20mph [on the hard shoulder] and finally refused the last steep hill up to my village. New to automatics, I thought the transmission had failed. It was, however, the catalytic converter that had collapsed internally and was blocking the exhaust system bit by bit. New cat, problem solved. Not from a main dealer I might add.
