C220 Auto Boot opening issue

My 2014 C220 Bluetec boot does not fully open when opened remotely by the key or the door switch. And the auto close switch in the boot and on the door do not work to close the boot either. The boot has to be closed manually by hand. Any ideas what it could be? I've looked at it and the boot lining has to be removed to gain access but I am not sure how the retaining clips are released without breaking them. I have some plastic leaver for the type of job which I have tried but I am nevervous about breaking the clips.
Any help on what the problem could be and how to remove the boot lining clips would be much appreciated.
