The other day, whilst taking shopping out from my boot, something "gave" and the boot lid slammed down. Luckily for me, my head wasn't it (I seriously think I would have been de-capitated, lol).

Now it's really heavy to open. It won't rise when you open it.

Does anyone know what this is? I figured its either a spring, or a relay not working?

Thanks

The most common, cause of this is a broken spring bracket which holds the spring in the boot or spring itself. have a look at both sides and compare and it will be become clear which side is broken.
