Hi to you all out there. My recently acquired 2005 registered 53 plate has developed an issue with the parking brake - it would not fully release and unless lifting the pedal with the toe of my shoe.
I have had the linkages heavily treated with a penetrating fluid and greased throughout but it is still occasionally not fully releasing the brake and causing the warning light to make annoying noises.

I am told that this is not uncommon because of lack of use and holding the car on the footbrake and moving from D to P on the road whilst out and about and continual the skipping of lubrication during service work schedules.

Has anyone had the troublesome fulcrum unit replace and the system set-up again from scratch ?

What kind of likely cost am I looking at and is this strictly a job for an Indy/Specialist ?

I wouldn’t bother
I had mine fixed and I’m back to lifting it with my foot

Hi berb1. What exactly do you mean by 'Fixed' ?

Lifting it with ones foot would constitute an MoT failure on the basis that it does not function as intended !!
