This raises suspicions that the MAF is faulty. Try disconnecting the Mass Air flow Meter by taking off the electrical plug attached to it and give the car a run to see what happens. Unfortunately our good friend and expert on these matters Malcolm ( Television ) is no longer with us as a member so I am posting what I think he would have recommended in relation to this problem. Come back with the results and someone maybe able to assist you further.

hi, cheers for the reply. Disconnecting the MAF sensor didn't seem to make much of a difference. Might take it out and give it a cleane and see if that helps. Is there anything else which is common for causing this problem???? cheers

You dont have to take it to a dealer. A independent like me can help. It will need the faults reading first before guessing.

sounds like the waste gate sticking and venting, check very carefully your turbo pipes, they have a habit of spilting but hard to find, normally the top one going into the inlet!!
