Just bought this mercedes, been driving it for now 3 days, and today when i was driving i noticed the car wasnt changing gears when it was suppose to, so i just checked triptronic (on my screen it said D) pushed it left and it didnt change gears to 4 and below and was stuck on D, plus the car kept jumping forward when i was changing from D to N/R/P so i switched the car off and switched it back on; it solved the problem, triptronic was working, car was driving fine, but it kept happening.

So i called up AA, they are telling me there is something wrong with the ECU (not monitoring you're rev/gear change correctly).

Im just wondering what everyone else thinks? and if anyone knows how much this will end up costing me?

It needs the fault codes read and a good diag.

The gearbox is in emergency mode.

do you know what could of caused this ? and if only mercedes dealerships can resolve this or can my local garages?

I see you deal with mercedes and fix/repiar/disgonostics on them, can you tell me how much this cost if it was done by you?

P.S this car has done 200k mileage but it drives like new :) but this problem i hope to sort out soon as possible.

An initial diag would be £50+vat.

At 200,000 I suspect the gearbox is a little tired. Expect the worse.

Any water in the glove box should not affect the switching modules, they are forward of the gear shift.

The fault could be the conductor plate and not that expensive to fix, Black will give you an honest opinion

I actually went to an engine diagonostics guy in rochdale (not to far from me) and he done a diagnostic test for free :) which is cool.

and like i said he did a diagonostic test, deleted all errors, told me to drive around for abit and come back and checked for fault codes and nothing appeared.

Im just hoping this dont cost me a bomb cause i only just got the ****** car :)
