C220 Coupe CDI Auto glow plug

Hi,

The diesel glow light stays on for 2 mins, after I start my car. Do the glow plugs need replacing??


If so, can anybody recommend a good garage in birmingham/Tamwork

yes 1 or more plugs needs repleacing hence the light staying on, easy fix for the diy kind of chap, just make sure engine red hot before removing!!

My glowlight stays on for a few seconds and then goes out. BUT, on starting the engine, it comes back on again.

I only bought the car on Tuesday (it's also a 220 CDI coupe, evo pan, 2002 reg). I only noticed it happening a couple of days later.

Me being a mere female, , do I need to get it checked already??

Yes, sounds like one or more glow plugs have failed, not too much of a problem in the summer (if you can call it that), but may become a problem in the colder weather. If you tell us where you are located, I'm sure we can steer you in the direction of an independent garage which will be at least half the price of a main dealer
