Hi

Hoping someone will be able to help,
I've had my car for a few weeks, its a 54 reg c220 w203 diesel estate.
If i select Hot air and the fan speed is at setting 2 or below i can feel a trickle of hot air from the vents, as soon as the fan speed is increased the air flow cools rapidly, Ive replaced the thermostat and new coolant the car runs at 90c and the pollen filter is new, all the vent flaps appear to be working correctly

Any Ideas on where to look next ?

Many Thanks

Jaz

Hi Kenb,Television and Cole

Thanks for replying, I've now tried the flap reset,
I can hear the flap mechanisms cycling through for the various vent positions, the reset takes approx 30 seconds, I can get air from any of the preselect positions, the fan also responds as it should, there are no clicking or knocking noises on startup or when selecting different vent positions.

The more I think about it I get the feeling its a flow problem through the matrix, hot water is getting to the matrix but as the fan speed increases the matrix cant keep up with the increased airflow across it,
does that sound plausible ?

Cole@MBS mentioned a blocked matrix and I've also trawled through a few
threads which also mention Duo Valve problems and recirculation pumps,
could failure of these parts cause a reduced flow through the matrix ?

Many Thanks for all your help

On your car I think that Colin hit the nail on the head and a new matrix required

Cole mentioned a "Back Flush" I presume if he mentioned doing it a few times on c class's that it may help ? I think I understand the principle but i'm not sure where the in and out feeds for the matrix are ? and wether i should use any chemical cleaners in the process
I really hope its not a new matrix !!!!!!!!! ouch

Best
