C220 CDI ESTATE 2012
Hi all
I have been reading with interest the number of people who have had the C220 remapped, some people seem to have issues whereas others seem to have a great experience.

I'm more of a SU carb man myself so this remapping malarky is all new to me.

I have read that Celtic Tuning can increase the BHP and Torque on my engine to 215 BHP and 363 lb/ft of torque.

Has anyone used Celtic or any other remapping companies on the 220 cdi engine?

Would I be wasting my money to try coax more power out of the 220?

I'm happy with the car at the moment but I will be using it to tow my Morris Minor next year so a bit more power and torque is always appreciated.

Regards

Dermot.

I don't believe Celtic have a dyno so it's hard to prove any gains with any degree of certainty so it's 'bum sensor' mode really

Yes that's the main issue I see with these upgrades, there is very little in the way of proving what you are spending money on.
I may try and speak to someone who has actually has the upgrade and see if it's worth the hassle.
But a quick search shows up quite a lot of chip tuning.

Not from Celtic it won't as there claims are false , a 170 hp 220 CDI makes 189 hp on THEIR dyno , so the result will be equally rich and no where near 215hp on an accurate dyno .

Probably not for all the gain you will get DeeEmm. I went from 136 to roughly 200(no Dyno done) and its great with regards to torque and I have no issues with the remap at nearly a year old

Having looked on the interweb there is a vast choice and the prices vary so much.
Very much a minefield.
SuperchIp and race chip offer the same power but the reviews state otherwise.
Kev555 what remap did you use?

just a box standard ECU remap as its just a van but same engine as yours I believe. I was offered an eco map or a torque map, i went for the latter, eco map was same power with fuel trimmed. It was a HEX portal map as guy that done it is one of their franchise's.
From memory mine was around the £180 mark, Gad tuning is highly recommended on the forum here if you are considering a power boost

False results with Celtic though , then even worse a false difference claim from 170hp when 'their' baseline is 189hp .

Their remapped result would not measure 215 on an accurate dyno.

Yes I quickly learned that from reading various reports, I have asked GAD for a quote so will let you know how I go on.
I don't dislike the power from the 220 but if I can up it to near the GAD quoted power and torque it would make the car more driveable I feel.
It would be nice to have a drive in a mapped 220 for comparision.

Well I spoke to Will at GAD today and was impressed with the details he sent through.
He states he can obtain +35-40 bhp and more importantly +100 Nm torque on my c220 cdi.

Unfortunately at the moment I'm on lock down in the Manchester area so cannot or should I say do not want to travel to have the car mapped.

I will book it in as soon as I can.
Looking forward to getting the work done.
