Hi All,

I know its been cold recently, I used my 2001 C220 CDI on tuesday night without any problems, then for the last 2 days its been parked outside and I know it has been really cold, now tonight I want to start the car, it just wouldnt start, radio, electric seat, lights in the dash come on etc.

I dont know what to do now, not sure why this is happening. I am geting my brother to bring his car so that I can jumpstart/charge the battery to see if thats what the problem is, car was working all this while, its only when it got cold in the last 2 days. I have searched forum and a lot of people seem to be saying injectors.

Ok Guys

I suspected it might be battery issue, that was the first thing that I could easily diagnose/sort out, I charged the car bettery by jumpstarting it, after 30 mins of charging, car started.

The battery is 3 weeks old, brand new from Halfords. this is the 2nd time this is happening, the first time it was in the garage, and although it wasnt clear what the problem was then, now i didnt drive it for 2 days in cold whether and it refused to start, could it be something to do with the radio, i thought if you take the keys out, this automatically turrns off the radio.

I dont know if something is secrecly draining my battery ? how can i tell, i switched off everything visible in the car.

could it be the alternator which is not charging the battery, how can i tell ?

Thanks in advance

halfrauds batteries are crap to be honest. spend a little more and get a Bosch or similar with a high A/h (Amp/Hour) on it.

all your problems will be solved

Also to add to Colechelles post I have had terrible rows with Halfords and their batteries going open circuit on one cell,, theyn will argue with their special testers that the battery is OK when it is not.

But again as Colechelle the only way is to put an ammeter in series and check the discharge rate after 20 mins when the car has gone to sleep. The CD disc should be removed for this test,, the result should well under 50ma

Many of these things are on the wake up circuits and they do not go to sleep
