C220 wiper problem, Help ?

I have a 55 plate C220 estate, the windscreen wipers have stopped working when you turn the stalk, however they will work when you push the stalk in to use the washer , please advise the problem

Hello and welcome, this will be a faulty stalk and a common problem,, many have had success from spraying in a non drying switch cleaner (Maplins)

Sorry to sound ignorant, where do you spray ? if it need a new stalk is it a main dealer job and do you have any idea of cost

It is really a steering wheel off job, but some folk manage to spray into the contact part without doing this.

A new switch cost £87 and any good indie can do this
