I would plug in StarDiagnosis - for now you will be going blind around the engine checking things. Is it W204 from 2014?

as above. was it still hot ? crank sensors often fail when hot and then function when cooled down ,did it start later when cold .

I havnt tried it since last night , il try again after work today . It is a W204, I’ve been told to try the spare key but I’m guessing it’s not an issue with the key as the engine turns over ?

I’ve just got in from work , tried car and started first time . It’s due a service so I think I’d best get it serviced and checked out . A few people have suggested the crank sensor as a possible fault .

All you say is true, but I would have thught 3hrs cooling down would allow the car to start again. When my CPS failed I could restart after less than an hour.
Star diagnosis seems the way forward with this fault.
