Hope someone can help me here. Firstly, I now know the engine should have been turned over regularly. The car has been left standing for a few months and the battery died. New one has been installed and whilst the electrics all seem to work the engine does not even turn over. I notice that the preglow warning light does not even come on, is this an indication of the problem or is it something else? Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received!

Is the car automatic? Is there an issue with the inhibitor? Possibly disconnect and reconnect the battery?

Was the new battery fully charged before fitting? They all come supposedly charged ,but you don't know how long it's been sitting before you bought it ,and it's a good idea to put it on charge before fitting.

I read about exactly the same problem after a car was left and the battery went flat. I think the car needs "reset" in some way. Try doing a search on the forums and you will find the posts about the same problem. Someone will know the answer though.
