C230 wiper fault

hi all,

ive got a fault on my C230 "96" ...... my wipers were only working on fast speed and when you switched it off the wiper stopped where it was.. ive just replaced the stalk with a brand new genuine merc one thinking this was the problem and its not.... still the same... when i now have it on the intermittant setting i can hear a relay clicking in the fuse box, but still only works on fast speed....... anybody any ideas??????

This to me would appear to be a bad soldered joint inside. as the relay is working.

The joints on where the relay is soldered onto the PCB break loose, the cases do come off with care and just re solder the relay mounting pins,applying new cored solder so the the joints are bright and shiny
